Gender Equality at Brightside

Our focus on Diversity and Inclusion

I passionately believe that everyone has the right and is entitled to have equal access to opportunities, resources and rewards irrespective of gender and that diversity of our teams is crucial to our ability to compete and perform.

At Brightside, our Executive Team and I are committed to ensuring gender equality in everything we do including recruitment, retention, promotion, pay equity, learning and development and succession planning.

Over the last 30 years our business has been built on family values. Our family spirit is at the heart of everything we do. It is our shared belief that anything is possible. It’s our DNA that defines our mindset, our can do attitude in how we approach business and what drives our success. Our core values of Create New Possibilities, Deliver on Promises and Believe in the Power of the Group reinforce the behaviours of all our teams.

Our gender equality strategy is embedded in our Growth with Focus strategy as we continue to engage our people and drive business outcomes.

We understand the importance of an inclusive culture that empowers our people and harnesses their differences to create innovative, market leading customer solutions in growing our business. We measure our success in this area through leadership accountability, talent identification and management, and continuous improvement in flexibility practices.

Some of our achievements include:

  • Flexible working practices across all business areas including working from home, job sharing, rostered days off and compressed weeks
  • Our executive team is 45/55 female to male
  • 35% of our workforce work part time
  • 23 promotions last year and 87% of these were for women
  • 8 weeks maternity leave and keep in touch program for those on parental leave

In Australia we have been compliant to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency since we started reporting 4 years ago and we achieved Employer of Choice for Gender Equality in 2016 – which has transitioned into a global value.

We are committed to continue with achieving best practice in our gender equality programs and practices because it’s our responsibility as corporate citizens to be part of the change we want to see happen in our workplace, our community and our economy.
